Cape Town draws curtain on World Rugby U20 Championship

The World Rugby U20 Championship concludes this Friday 19 July 2024 at DHL Stadium and Athlone Stadium. The tournament, supported by the City of Cape Town, has featured 24 games over the last three weeks.
Six games, including a blockbuster final between defending champions France and England, are on the cards at Cape Town's iconic stadiums.
South Africa's U20 rugby team, the Junior Springboks will get the action rolling at DHL Stadium in a 7th place playoff game against Wales from 14:00.
Ireland and New Zealand will battle it out for the third and fourth place seeding at the same venue at16:30.
The championship game between France and England will kick off at 19:00.
At Athlone Stadium, Spain and Fiji will be duelling for 11th place from 12:00.
This will be followed by the 9th place decider between Italy and Georgia at 14:30.
Australia and Argentina will close out the action at Athlone Stadium with the 5th/6th place playoff game at 17:00.
'The World Rugby U20 Championship has been a wonderful showcase of some of the game's top prospects, and a testament of Cape Town's ability to successfully host major events while also promoting our city to a global audience. It has been an honour to host the players, officials and the travelling supporters. There are still six games to play and we would like to encourage Capetonians to come out and support not only the Junior Springboks but the future of world rugby,' said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, starting at R35 for children 18 years old and younger, and R75 for adults.
